Magnitude 4.2 earthquake strikes Vietnam, 361 km from Ubon Ratchathani

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11, 2025

A 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck Vietnam on Wednesday morning, approximately 361 kilometres southeast of Mueang district in Ubon Ratchathani, according to the Earthquake Observation Division.

The tremor occurred at 7.39am at a depth of 10 kilometres. However, no tremors were reported to have been felt in Thailand.

Prior to the incident in Vietnam, the division recorded two minor earthquakes in Myanmar, while no seismic activity was detected within Thailand. Details of the earlier quakes are as follows:

 

  • At 3.43am, a 3.4 magnitude earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres in Myanmar, about 286 kilometres northwest of Mueang district, Mae Hong Son province.
  • At 5.53am, a 2.5 magnitude earthquake struck at the same depth in Myanmar, approximately 157 kilometres southwest of Khun Yuam district, Mae Hong Son province.
