Four mild quakes reported on Friday, including one in Mae Hong Son

Of four mild earthquakes recorded on Friday morning, a 3.9-magnitude tremor struck Myanmar, while a 1.4-magnitude quake was felt in Mae Hong Son province, northern Thailand.

According to the Thai Meteorological Department’s Earthquake Observation Division, three of the quakes occurred in Myanmar, with magnitudes ranging from 2.0 to 3.9. Only one quake was recorded within Thai territory, in Mae Hong Son.

Here are the details of the four quakes reported on May 2:

  • 8.53am – A 3.9-magnitude quake at a depth of 10 kilometres in Myanmar, approximately 324 kilometres northwest of Pang Mapha district, Mae Hong Son.
  • 3.16am – A 2.0-magnitude quake at a depth of 10 kilometres in Myanmar, approximately 162 kilometres southwest of Khun Yuam district, Mae Hong Son.
  • 2.50am – A 3.1-magnitude quake at a depth of 10 kilometres in Myanmar, approximately 253 kilometres northwest of Mueang district, Mae Hong Son.
  • 0.49am – A 1.4-magnitude quake at a depth of 2 kilometres in Thung Yao subdistrict, Pai district, Mae Hong Son province.

The Earthquake Observation Division continues to monitor the situation closely and advises residents in risk-prone areas to stay updated through official government channels.
