Feedback from lifelong vegans needed to assess health benefits

Re: “Take the Eric Bahrt steak challenge”, Have Your Say, January 4.

The war between vegans and omnivores is raging. As someone watching from the sidelines I remain “agnostic” about the issue, not sure what to believe.
I suspect, however, that Eric Bahrt, Jenny Moxham and the like only started practising veganism in adulthood. It would be interesting, therefore, to hear from vegans who were “veganised” as soon as they were weaned off the breast (assuming any are still live to tell their story). Let’s see how healthy or unhealthy they are, how they look and feel, and what they have to say. And please, I don’t want to hear vegan parents speaking for their vegan infants, okay?
Meanwhile, Eric is trying to mislead the readers by citing Dr Dean Ornish’s study on diet. Dr Ornish reversed heart disease in his patients by putting them on a programme consisting of regular exercise, stress reduction, meditation, anger management, family support, and a low-fat vegetarian diet. The diet alone did not do the trick, as Eric would have us believe!
