Thailand reports over 20,000 Covid-19 cases in a single day

Thailand has recorded over 20,000 Covid-19 cases in a single day, with most infections found in Bangkok, the Department of Disease Control’s Division of Epidemiology reported on Thursday.

According to the division’s Facebook post, the Covid-19 situation as of Wednesday (June 4) is as follows:

  • New cases: 20,726
  • Total accumulated cases: 351,214
  • New deaths: 3, bringing the total death toll to 76 (from January 1 to present)

The five provinces with the highest number of cases are:

  • Bangkok: 1,324 cases
  • Nonthaburi: 1,078 cases
  • Chonburi: 1,049 cases
  • Saraburi: 1,036 cases
  • Ratchaburi: 946 cases

The age groups most affected by Covid-19 are:

  • 30–39 years old
  • 60 years and above
  • 20–29 years old
  • 40–49 years old
  • 50–59 years old

The department urges the public to wear face masks, wash hands frequently with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitiser, and avoid close contact with elderly individuals over 60 years old and those with underlying health conditions to help reduce the spread of infection.
